How To Execute Your Ideas Easily
We all have ideas that we want to let out, but we end up not executing it. Ideas without execution are worthless. So, let’s talk about how to execute your great ideas easily.
Maintaining is hard
In mid-October 2019, I decided to wake up early in the morning around 4 o’clock every single day. I wanted to do it a little bit extreme, especially that I now have a baby. I want to spend more time with him and work on my tasks without interruption.
So, I thought of waking up early in the morning so I can have more work time. Waking up late is very unproductive for me. This is what I did before that I just wake up whenever I want it. Every time I wake up late, it’s a drag for me and it’s very hard to get my ideas going.
I want to take these good habits with me as a good entrepreneur, a good husband, and a dad. Waking up early in the morning in the first stage or during the first few days was easy because I was committed to it.
But maintaining it was very difficult. Other people may find it difficult to start, but easy to maintain. However, on my end, it was the opposite.
Every time my alarm goes off, I always hit the snooze button maybe around five times. Then, I ended up waking up at 7 A.M. and my baby wakes up around that time and I don’t have enough time for work.
So, it was hard for me to balance work, life, being a dad, and a husband. It was hard to juggle my time. But I really wanted to overcome the struggle. I keep procrastinating.
The 5-second Rule
If you want to build a future, you also need to build a habit and discipline yourself. So, I did some research and found a book by Mel Robbins title The 5-second Rule.
According to her, when NASA finally launched the space shuttle, there was a countdown that started 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 then launch. This 5-second rule is very powerful that I realized that I didn’t program or condition myself the night before to wake up early in the morning and maintain it.
Sometimes, you tend to delay something whenever you need to do it. To this date, I am struggling sometimes to execute my ideas. But when I need to work for a client, I don’t need to decide or procrastinate.
As soon as you count from 5 to 1, you are conditioning your brain that after the countdown, something will happen. This will help you execute the first state of that good habit that you want to maintain.
So, you should count like you are launching airspace to prepare your body and mind.
